Ever since I’ve decided to give the pores on my legs a break and stay away from stovepipes (skinny jeans and leggings are the cause of many-an-ingrown-hair), I’ve been on the lookout for a pair of Boyfriend jeans. After many hours of browsing online and research, I finally settled on this pair by Siwy Jeans. I can’t tell you how difficult it is in finding a good pair of jeans to fit my skinny frame.
I rushed to put it on within 30 seconds of relieving the postman of my parcel. Very rarely do I buy jeans online, unless it’s a fit I’m already familiar with. To be perfectly honest, I didn’t like how I looked the first time I put it on. It was so loose–I could’ve fitted another me in it. Perhaps it was because I was too used to jeans so tight they cut my circulation off when I crossed my legs, or the fact that I hadn’t listened to my gut feeling and sized down instead of my usual size 24. After all, my extensive research showed the ‘Kendra‘ fits pretty true to size. Already disappointed with the fit, I was even more bummed out that the wash turned out to be closer to a pale blue, than the dirty white shown online on the website. I was upset enough to write an email to Siwy Jeans to convey my disappointment, to which I never got a reply back (hello Siwy CS team I hope you see this!).
Fast forward to a couple days ago… Me standing in front of my wardrobe with the usual mantra going through my head, “I have absolutely nothing to wear.” Something made me reach out and grab my Boyfriend jeans, which had been relegated to the bottom of my precarious jeans pile. Boy am I glad I did. Decided to pair it with one of my favorite Boyfriend tees, trusty Moschino belt and Balenciaga boots–I guess my theme was comfort–a crampy tummy does that to you. My Boyfriend jeans virgin trip on my hips saw it going to the hairdresser’s, running errands around town and the insides of a changing room on a spontaneous shopping trip. Not a bad first date at all! I’m now pretty certain that I’ll wear this pair of jeans to death.
I guess it’s not always love at first sight. If you’re still looking for the perfect pair of Boyfriend jeans, don’t give up. Nobody said you’d find your soulmate on your first try. Also, it doesn’t hurt to give someone a second chance.
P.S.: It was never my intention to match my bra to my bag. It just, happened.
