Last Friday, I had the privilege of celebrating 5 years of splendor with ION Orchard. I had been looking forward to the event the entire week because I’d be attending my first runway show, and Chris Daughtry (of hit single ‘Home’ fame) would be singing live. I’ll let the pictures do the talking.
Models with razor sharp cheekbones, endless legs, and perfect bone structure ruled the runway. Aside from the usual dark and muted colors of fall, there were several outstanding statement pieces that really stood out. While I can’t deny the simplicity and classiness of monochrome, I’m never one to shy away from a pop of electric blue or royal purple. I also really liked the oriental inspired red brocade coat. Unfortunately, aside from some of the separates, most of the looks are pretty inappropriate considering Singapore’s tropical weather. Most of the models were sporting sleek and slightly wet-haired dos’, a smart choice seeing that since the fashion concert was held outdoors they’d be sweating buckets underneath all those layers. From high street to high fashion, all of the above looks can be found at ION Orchard.
Which look’s your favorite? Let me know in the comments down below.
So Daughtry took the stage shortly after the fashion showcase, much to the delight of screaming fans who were waiting for the main event. I have to say he sounds surprisingly good live, engaging the crowd to sing along with him. He made the crowd laugh when he took his jacket off and joked, “I wanted to look cool for you guys, but it’s really too hot!” I had a leather jacket draped over my shoulders, so I totally get how he feels. Unfortunately the performance was cut short halfway when a heavy drizzle (which we tolerated for awhile), became a crazy downpour. You can see the umbrellas come up in the pictures above! The band was really sporting and didn’t want to stop playing (kudos to them for that!), but were asked to leave the stage. We decided to leave, but the I heard the performance continued after the rain ceased. I guess patience is a virtue!
Two of my fellow ION Insiders, Thiang and Dennis. Thanks for the great company throughout the evening. It was fun catching up as usual, can’t wait for our next meetup.
I was struggling with the dress code, “Standout” because it was going to be an outdoor concert so I wanted to wear something that would allow me to stay relatively cool. After several unsuccessful shopping attempts I decided to put an outfit together with some old things from the depths of my closet, resulting in this edgy outfit. I figured everyone was going to be in a dress and heels, so I went with the antithesis of girly. I guess it worked it out in the end.
Over the moon to have received another beautifully scented candle, a unique blend of 20 individual fragrances from natural herbs, fruit, and flowers such as; bergamot, white tea, mandarin, ginger, peony, mimosa, and wild lavender. I love how my house smells now. Thanks ION Orchard for the invite, and giving me the chance to be part of your 5th anniversary!
